Can't afford to take a trip this Memorial Day?  Perhaps it's raining outside and you can't really grill those wieners in the rain.  If these things are true for you on this Memorial Day how about spending your "staycation" indoors and in game.  Here's the Top 5 places to visit in game to celebrate your three-day weekend.

5. Setting up a campfire in Lord of the Rings Online
Lord of the Rings Online campfireSure campfires are a place to cook in Lord of the Rings Online but they're also a place to take a moment a relax.  There's nothing like fashioning your own campfire to cook on out in the wilderness of Middle-Earth.

Of course the campfires found in the world are also a wonderful place to stop and enjoy some player generated music.  Kumbaya anyone?

 4. Taking a moment to fish in Mabinogi
Really, there are several MMOs you could fish in for Memorial Day.  Mabinogi's a great example because it's a f2p title that makes life skills like fishing, cooking, and first aid just as important as combat and magic skills.

Want more information on fishing in Mabinogi?  Check out my article, right here, on fishing in Mabinogi.

3. Camping in Star Wars Galaxies
SWG player campsPlayer camps in Star Wars Galaxies are a portable way to build the thing you need at the place you're currently at.  There are many things you can put in your portable camp given you have the resources.  These items include cloning tubes, food stations, entertainment areas, and much more.

The Entertainment Area can act as a venue for the Entertainer class.  This constructible portion of a camp acts like a portable cantina that allows the Entertainer to buff and do all their class specialties for other players.

Camps are an excellent place for people to throw a party in the world of Star Wars Galaxies!

2. Collecting fish in World of Warcraft
Shadowprety VillageOver in Desolace on Kalimdor there's a lovely Horde village perfect for a relaxing vacation.  In Shadowprey Village a nice troll named Jinar'Zillen will offer you a quest to swim underneath the docks and retrieve shellfish from the shellfish traps.  There's a little work involved to the quest "Fish in a Bucket" and you might have to fend off some other sea creatures.  But while you're there you'll get a little sun for your character (unless it's night) and a good swim.  There's no money involved only fish now, but it's still a good WoW quest.

That lovely shot of Shadowprey Village can be found at MMOSite.com

1. Taking a hike in Free Realms
Free RealmsWith multiple jobs available to play at any time, Free Realms offers several Memorial Day adventures in a family setting!

As the Adventurer class, or really any class, you can run around the world and discover treasures and collections.  Bring the kids because Free Realms is a family-friendly zone.  Why not get everyone together for a party on the beach at Seaside or just hike through the mountains around Sanctuary?

Check out my Free Realms journey here.

There you have it.  Five great ways to spend your Memorial Day in an MMORPG.  Of course, there's always an actual world to discover as well, so maybe the games can wait until it gets dark or starts raining!
