Disney's A Christmas Carol train pulls out of Portland on its way to Seattle
Disney brought Christmas to Portland today, via Amtrak. Hundreds of Portlanders lined up to board the Christmas Carol train, a museum on rails if you will. The train is touring the United States, stopping in
40 cities across 36 of the states, promoting the November release of Disney’s new release of A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carrey.
The film is being reintroduced as created by Robert Zemickis, award winning filmmaker, and being brought to us this time, in 3D, and by Jim Carrey, who will be playing Ebenezer Scrooge.. and ALL of the Christmas Spirits, in addition to a few other roles, for a total of seven roles played by Carrey (perhaps Disney is running low on actors?).
Disney’s A Christmas Carol is set to open in theaters November 5th, brought to us in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D.
The train tour, that is traveling a total of 16,000 miles of train track between May and the movies grand opening in November rolled into Portland’s Union Station today bringing Portlanders a little bit of Christmas, in July. A 90 degree day cannot stop Disney. Carolers caroled in their winter best, Disney delivered snow, and Christmas came to Portland in July.
Visitors got a look first hand at the costumes and masks to be used in the movie, as well as a bit of insight on the making of the movie. Also on display were authentic artifacts from the Charles Dickens Museum of London. At the end of the train, visitors used HP TouchSmart PC’s to morph their faces into characters from the movie.
The photos will be available for download for free from Walmart.
Radio Disney was also in attendance entering local kids into a contest to become a Movie Surfer representing Portland and appearing on the Disney Channel in their own Movie Surfer Segment. Jamie from Portland won, and was spotted at the end of the line, practicing her lines, sporting a new Christmas Carol tee shirt, a bag, and a new VIP badge.
Next stop for the Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train is Seattle Washington where the train will spend three days.
