James Bond in a horror film?
Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting that James Bond, or rather Daniel Craig, will be starring in a horror film called "Dream House." Craig came close to horror in 2007's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" remake which was more of a sci-fi yawn without any scares.
ScreenCrave.com says Jim Sheridan "master storyteller" will be directing. That "master storyteller" bit is from IMDB's mini-bio. It refers to his film credits for "In The Name of the Father" and "The Boxer." Oh, and the Fifty Cent epic "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" (imagine an aging white man making that film?).
This latest "Dream House" movie is not to be confused with another movie of the same name at DreamHouseMovie.com. That film was released in 2008 and contains no Bond actors and is directed by Kevin Hicks. Yes, the same Kevin Hicks who according to the official movie site also did "the Auto Lift Institute's safety training video, 'Lifting It Right...'"
The premise for the upcoming film is pretty simple: watch "The Amityville Horror." The only difference is the producers of "Dream House" aren't claiming it's based on a true story.
It will be interesting to see of Daniel Craig can find success outside of Bond. So far nothing.
Sean Connery made a slew of films after handing over James Bond to Moore (he tried to leave it in the hands of that pretty boy George Lazenby who thought he was too good for the role and bailed). He went on to make several sci-fi films though I'm not aware he ever did a horror film--"Meteor" doesn't count because the horror was that you paid money to see that film. "Outland," however, was the one science fiction film Connery should be remembered for. It's one of his best and often ignored when the actor's film credits are recounted.
I'm not sure why Craig keeps picking movie roles that don't match the excitement of his Bond role? It's going to be hard for him to have a career outside of 007 once they spit him out if he doesn't establish that he's more than a nice pair of pecs and abs emerging from the ocean.
