Your Tax Dollars At Work

September 2, 1:57 PM

This is NOT the alien. This is Jeff Peckman.
Today at 3 p.m. in room 391 of Denver's City and County Building, city officials will discuss the merits of a May 2009 ballot proposal to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission.

Local idiot Jeff Peckman, the sponsor of the proposal, has reworked the initiative to, in his words, "set the bar higher" for potential commission members, requiring them to be knowledgeable about UFOs. The original proposal required the mayor to appoint at least one Denver City Council member to the commission, as well as other city officials with safety and human services.

Peckman gained notoriety in May of this year after he screened a video for the Denver media purporting to show an alien peeping through a window of the home of Nebraska resident Stan Romanek. The video was shot in 2003 and like Peckman and Romanek, it is completely phony and hilarious. Here are Peckman and Romanek on Larry King Live. Note: the strange creature dressed in a red shirt and suspenders in this clip is not an alien, it is King himself.

In a related story, next week city officials will be discussing the medical benefits of snake oil as well as the existence of the Easter Bunny.
