The webs and trades are pulsing today with news that the CW network is readying a TV show focused on a young Robin, as he grows to become Batman's apprentice.
According to TV Week, "The Graysons" will focus on how a young Dick Grayson becomes the Boy Wonder. Over the years, CW, which used to be the WB, has introduced a young Superman in "Smallville" (which has introduced young versions of characters including Aquaman and Green Arrow), and even ran a show about a female super team from DC Comics called "Birds of Prey."
It's no secret that the world of Batman has gotten MUCHO attention in the wake of the sucess of this past summer's "Dark Knight:" movie. And CW's young-teen audience could well identify with a young teen en route to becoming the acrobatic Robin. Of course, this is sort of the premise of Frank Miller's "All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder," a comic book that has generated lots of controversy in the recent past. I'm assuming CW's version will be a little cleaner.
