There have been several movies made that relate to the United States of America's birthday, July 4th.  Mel Gibson is one of the actors in one such film - The Patriot.

Mel Gibson is an actor, film director, producer and screenwriter.  The Patriot is a 2000 epic war film directed by Roland Emmerich, written by Robert Rodat, and starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger.

The Patriot mainly takes place in South Carolina (and was entirely filmed there) and depicts the story of a war hero swept into the American Revolutionary War when his family is threatened.

A few of the "patriotic" films are: The Music Man (1962), Johnny Tremain (1957),The Fighting Sullivans (1944), The Stars and Stripes Forever (1952), 1776 (1972) Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) and All the President's Men (1976), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)...

It's well done if you can do a part and not have the acting show." - Jimmy Stewart

The time line of the flag of the United States is that it has been changed 26 times since the new, 13-state union adopted it. The 48-star version went unchanged for 47 years, until the 49-star version became official on July 4, 1959 (the first July 4 following Alaska's admission to the union on January 3, 1959). The 47-years of the 48-star version was the longest time the flag went unmodified until July 5, 2007, when the current 50-star version of the Flag of the United States broke the record.
