Heidi Klum born near Cologne, Germany, began her career, almost by accident, as a top fashion model and swimsuit star. Klum submitted photos to a model competition hosted by Petra, a young woman's magazine, and she won the competition, and signed with Metropolitan, a German modeling agency.
After modeling in Europe for a few years to great success, she went to the United States to pursue modeling there. Like many other models Klum then sought her fame as a career in acting - in Hollywood.
Heidi has appeared frequently on television in the US and in Germany, and has had several small parts in movies, including a cameo playing Swiss bombshell Ursula Andress in the Peter Sellers biopic The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004).
Klum is married to British singer Seal.
Klum's acting career has been in film and telelvision. Some of the films she has been a part of, from 1998-2007, are 54, Blow Dry, Ella Enchanted, The Devil Wears Prada,
The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, and Perfect Stranger.

A little acting debut in Spin City, with Michael J. Fox, opened up a whole new door for me." - Heidi Klum
In December 2004, Klum became the host, judge and executive producer of the reality show Project Runway on the U.S. cable television channel Bravo, in which fashion designers compete for the opportunity to show their line at New York Fashion Week and receive money to launch their own fashion line.
Klum received an Emmy Award nomination for the show for each of the first four seasons. In 2008, Klum and Project Runway received a Peabody Award, the first time a reality show won the award.
Klum was nominated for an Emmy in 2008 for "outstanding host of a reality or reality-competition show" for Project Runway, the first year that category was recognized by the Emmys. Klum can be seen at costume galas - catch her at this one.
