SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 players

Nowadays when people think of music players or MP3 players they think of the Apple iPod. While perhaps the iPod is the standard in the public’s mind there are other alternatives on the market, and some of them are quite good. Today we take a look at a very cool, very small MP3 player from SanDisk. It’s called the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player. In addition to the extremely small size it is extremely powerful, it’s innovative and it’s versatile. Here’s a brief look:

The first thing you notice about the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player is its diminutive size. It measures 2.16” x 1.36” x .60”. It weighs just .85 of an ounce, so yes, it weighs less than an ounce. Don’t let that small size fool you; this device is quite powerful, let’s take a look at the features of the 8GB model we tested (except where noted all the models have the same features):

  • Approximately 120 hours of MP3 storage (30 hours on the 2GB, 60 hours on the 4GB)
  • Multiple format support including: MP3, WMA, secure WMA, Audible, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, audiobooks and podcasts (don’t worry if you don’t know what all of these are)
  • microSD and microSDHC as well as slotRadio and slotMusic cards
  • Digital FM radio with 40 presets
  • Long-life built in rechargeable battery with up to 15 hours of playback
  • OLED screen (very bright, low power consumption)
  • Easy to use interface makes it easy to choose playlists or sort songs by song title, artist or album
  • Skip-free playback with flash

The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player is easy to use, sounds great and, due to its removable memory has virtually unlimited storage for music. The device accepts, as mentioned above, microSD and microSDHC as well as slotRadio and slotMusic cards. That means that in addition to the built in 2, 4 or 8GB of storage, you can add up to an additional 16GB of storage at a time. In addition, you can buy a variety of slotRadio and slotMusic cards preloaded with your favorite genres of music. All this adds up to a great deal of flexibility when using the device.

Here’s what come in the box:

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player
  • USB 2.0 cable
  • Earphones
  • Quick Start Guide

Conclusion
We really liked the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player. It offers a great value in a very small package. It is solidly constructed and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. The black 2GB model retails for $39.99, the 4GB model comes in your choice of red, blue or black for $49.99 and the black 8GB version sells for $69.99. Of course prices can vary depending on where you purchase it.
