The Nintendo Wii has sold over a whopping 34 million units, making it the most popular non-handheld video game console, currently leading the Xbox 360 by over 10 million units.
So what are the top Wii games? What are people playing on it? Well, a whole lot of Wii Sports for one. But in this list of the top Wii games, I have ruled out any game that is bought more for the hardware it comes with than the game itself. This rules out Wii Sports (bundled with the Wii Console), Wii Play (bundled with an extra controller), and Link's Crossbow Trainer (bundled with the Wii Crossbow), but leaves Mario Kart (because who buys that for the wheel?).
The Wii Fit has also been included since I don't think people are buying it to use the balance board with We Ski, and Jillian Michael's Wii workout is just too new for it to have been the cause of so many Wii Fit sales.

In Mario Kart, you can play as Mario, Luigi or even Baby Peach, while you dodge cows, fall down mining shafts and turn into a speeding bullet in the wackiest race on the Wii. Featuring the same crazy courses and addicting gameplay that helped Mario Kart: Double Dash sell over 4 million copies on the GameCube, Mario Kart takes it to the next level with the inclusion of the Wii Wheel. Having already sold over 2 million copies in its first few months, it didn't take the Wii Fit long to become one of the top Wii games. Including yoga, strength exercises, aerobics and balance games, the Wii Fit comprises a great daily workout. Read the Review.

Mario Party has dominated bestseller lists for Nintendo consoles since the original's release for the Nintendo 64, so it is no surprise to see Mario Party 8 at the top of the best selling Wii games.
