Do all gamers look like Morgan Grimes?
Is this the face of gaming?

Gamers tend to be pictured as socially-awkward 20-somethings that are either short and bushy, tall and lanky, or fat and uncoordinated -- or, pretty much anyone that works at the Buy More in Chuck (excluding Casey, of course!).

But is this accurate?

A couple of studies shed a little light on the truth behind the avatar. In an automotive study by 1UP Network, we discover that gamers might pimp their ride in a video game, but tend to be sensible when purchasing their own vehicle. In fact, a whopping 64% drive a 4-door sedan, 27% haul around the family in an SUV and only 18% cruise the streets in a 2-door coupe. As for our next car, Honda and Toyota are the brands we are most interested in purchasing.

That's right. Apparently, we're driving around in a Honda Civic.

And it gets crazier. Gamasutra reports on a study by IGN Entertainment and Ipsos Media CT with the following little tidbit: gamers are more social than non-gamers and are more likely to be married or dating. They are also 13 percent more likely to go to the movies and 11 percent more likely to play sports.

What? A socially-active Honda Civic owner who is either in a serious relationship or dating?

It's almost as if gamers are real people!

Another interesting note from the 1UP study: While 27% of us own an SUV, only 18% are interested in getting an SUV for our next vehicle while a whopping 37% are thinking about getting a hybrid vehicle. So, we're all for the environment too.
