A total of four teams, three in the Nationwide and one in the Truck series, were penalized Thursday for infractions that happened at Daytona last weekend.

Blake Bainbridge, crew chief of the No. 09 Ford driven by John Wes Townley, was fined $15,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until June 30, 2009 for altering a roll cage inside the car. Jay Robinson was penalized with the loss of 100 NASCAR Nationwide owner points while Townley was docked 100 NASCAR Nationwide driver points.

George Bartlett, crew chief of the No. 84 Chevrolet driven by Mike Harmon, was fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until June 30, 2009 for rule violations discovered during opening-day inspection and post-race inspection on Feb. 14, respectively.

In pre race NASCAR found weight containers welded to the outside of the main frame rails that contained extra weight along with an invalid SFI label. (SFI is the company that sets minimum performance standards for products used in racing).

Team owner/driver Harmon was penalized 25 NASCAR Nationwide Series owner points and 25 NASCAR Nationwide Series driver points for each infraction, totaling 50 points in each category.

Michael Hobson, crew chief for the No. 0 Chevrolet driven by Danny O’Quinn Jr., was fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until June 30, 2009 for having a left front spring on the car at less then the specified spring rate.

Johnny Davis was penalized 25 NASCAR Nationwide Series owner points and O’Quinn forfeited 25 NASCAR Nationwide Series driver points due to the violations, which also were found during post-race inspection.

In the Truck series the No. 33 truck was found to have shock absorbers that didn’t conform to the rules. According to the rule, the shocks must be of nitrogen-gas pressurized mono-tube, deflective disc valve type with an integral gas reservoir with all components as displayed on each manufacturer’s display board. In the no. 33’s case they used shocks with an unapproved shock absorber piston. The violations were found during post-race inspection on Feb. 13.

Driver Ron Hornaday Jr. was penalized 25 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver points and truck owner DeLana Harvick was penalized 25 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series owner points due to the violations. Crew chief Rick Ren was fined $5,000 and placed on probation until June 30, 2009.
