What does boxing have to do with the Internet? Plenty. Just look at the success of Manny Pacquiao, who is the top boxer across six weight divisions and subject of the wildly successful site mannypacquiao.ph, which today notes that Manny has arrived in Las Vegas as he awaits Saturday's bout against Miguel Cotto.
The Houston Boxing Examiner, the Indianapolis Fight Sports Examiner and others have done a great job covering Manny from a sportsman's and boxing history perspective. Let's now take a look at how he has become an Internet phenomenon.
Not withstanding his own site which he already dominates, Manny does a great job marketing himself as well as other fighters from his homeland of the Philippines. Pacland, as it is called, pays homage to many parts of his homeland.
The site also has links to other boxing sites and boxers as well, including PhilBoxing.com, which in and of itself is a great reference to South Pacific boxers.
His site is getting numerous hits due to his upcoming and much-anticipated fight against Cotto. The bout is scheduled for this Saturday (Nov. 14) at 9 p.m. (ET) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It's available via pay-per-view on HBO.
So watch his site, and watch the fight, as it will be one of the best we have seen in a while. Call your cable company provider for cost, availability, etc. And check Manny's site for updates.
