Trojans secure the #4 spot in Examiner Top 25
Every week Sports Examiners across the nation throw their hat into the ring of top 25 college football projections.
This past Saturday the Trojans had the pleasure of defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for an eighth consecutive time in a wild road game in South Bend, Indiana. The win over the Irish helped the Trojans secure the fourth spot in our Examiner college football poll.
This weekend USC heads back to sunny California where they will host the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday. The Beavers are coming off a bye week but have been playing strong as of late, mainly due to the play of star tailback Jacquizz Rodgers. Rodgers has been running wild for much of the season, leading the Pac-10 with thirteen touchdowns scored.
Now, on to the Examiner.com week seven rankings. You can find Examiner.com's Top-25 HERE.
Below is how I voted this week (with analysis and bonus sarcasm):
- Florida (No surprise here)
- Alabama (No surprise here)
- Texas (No surprise here)
- USC (Something tells me Charlie Weis might be checking the coaching want-ads on Craigslist sometime in the not-so-distant future; kudos to the Trojans for ending a Clausen-for-Heisman debate that should never have been started in the first place)
- Cincinnati (Bearcats claw out another victory, this time over the Bulls of South Florida)
- Iowa (Hawkeyes still undefeated after bludgeoning the rabid Badgers, get bumped up over Boise State because...it's Boise State)
- Boise State (Congratulations on barely beating Tulsa! Next up on Boise's mediocre schedule...the dangerous Hawaii Warriors, I'm shaking in my boots...really)
- Miami (FL) (Central Florida is no match for the Hurricanes...Michael Irvin approves)
- TCU (Now I may receive some flack for vaulting the Horned Frogs over LSU given their Boise State-like schedule, but they are still undefeated...plus it's my poll, I'll do what I want)
- Georgia Tech (The Hokies walk into the hornets nest and get stung by a feisty group of Yellow Jackets; another top-five team bites the dust)
- LSU (Les Miles & Co. singing the bye week blues, shatter windows everywhere)
- Oregon (Ducks remain stagnant in the pond after getting the weekend off)
- Penn State (Lions have delectable Gopher for lunch, a plump RichRod with a side of Wolverines next on the menu )
- BYU (Prowling middle-aged women are after Max Hall after four-touchdown performance on Saturday)
- Oklahoma State (Cowboys go Tiger hunting, hand Missouri second loss in as many weeks...Dan Bailey drives the girls wild showing off a little leg)
- Pittsburgh (Just when I thought you [Dave Wannstedt] couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!)
- Virginia Tech (You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you lose to Georgia Tech and drop from #4, that is what it's all about)
- Houston (Houston is going after BYU for Cougar supremacy...cat fight ensues)
- Utah (What the hell is a 'Ute' anyway? Oh yeah, Utah beats UNLV)
- Central Michigan (The fever for LeFevour continues with a three-touchdown performance in the battle between irrelevant Michigan schools)
- West Virginia (The Mountaineers corral a Thundering Herd thanks to some 'Devine' intervention)
- Idaho (Ida-think the Vandals need to do us all a favor and 'LeGarrette' the Broncos of Boise State off the BCS map on November 14th)
- Ohio State (The 'Pryor-dactyl' delivered a dinosaur-egg of a performance as the 2-and-5 Boilermakers rendered the Buckeyes cataclysmically extinct)
- Texas Tech (Texas Tech shows Nebraska a thing or two about shucking corn with a strong performance this weekend)
- Arizona (Cellar-dweller of the week goes to...the Wildcats. 22nd in the BCS poll, Arizona gets an unconscious performance from quarterback Nick Foles, who could do no wrong on Saturday. Feast your eyes on this mouth watering stat-line: 40-of-51 passing for 415 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions...bonus points for an appearance by 'The Hoff')
