iTunes' Genius functionality won't come into play in college

The University of Missouri has alerted incoming freshmen of their Journalism classes that they will be required to own an iPod Touch or an iPhone, the Missourian reports.

The announcements appears to be poorly backed; Associate Dean Brian Brooks has said while it's technically a "requirement" for financial aid reasons, it won't be enforced. The faculty never actually voted on this requirement, but the technical committee had.

As a journalist, I can't imagine my day without an iPhone... but then again, I report on Apple stuff, so it's a personal requirement.
