The Independence Day holiday weekend offers lots of things to do including theatre, music, parades in nearly a dozen towns and one of the top ten fireworks displays in the country.

 

Music and art on July 4 th weekend


The musical “Anything Goes” is performed by the Ohio University Players at their summer home in Chatham at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday.

The “By the Bay Fine Arts and Crafts Show” will be held at The Drummer Boy Park in Brewster. Friday and Saturday July 3 and 4 10-5pm, Sunday July 5 10-4pm


Two free concerts will be held in Hyannis on the 4 th of July, just prior to the fireworks. The Barnstable Town Band will perform on the Village Green from 530 to 7 pm and the Cape Cod Conservatory Jazz Ensemble will be at Aselton Park from 7 pm to dusk.


On Friday July 3, the Chatham Town Band will present a free concert at the Kate Gould Park’s Whit Tileston Band Strand. Concert includes folk dances for the kids, community singing and some dance numbers for the adults.


July 4 fireworks on Cape Cod

* July 1 – Mashpee High School 9 pm (rain date July 2)
* July 2 – Sesuit Harbor in East Dennis 9 pm
* July 3 – Orleans at Rock Harbor 8:30 pm (rain date July 5)
* July 4 –Provincetown Harbor 9pm
* July 4 – Falmouth at Falmouth Heights Beach 9 pm (rain date July 6)
NOTE: This fireworks show received a top ten rating from Travel and Leisure
* July 4 – Town of Barnstable at Hyannis on Lewis Bay 9 pm

Independence Day Parades on Cape Cod


Barnstable Village parade starts at 930 am at the County Complex on Railroad Ave traveling down Main Street (Rte 6A). Parade ends at Village Hollow where other festivities will take place.


Bourne’s parade begins at 10 am, winding its way down Main Street in Buzzard’s Bay.


Centerville’s parade starts at 10 am at the Centerville Elementary School ending at the Centerville Recreation Building where field events will be held.


Chatham’s 4th of July parade begins at 930 am and travels down Main Street from Shore Road to Veteran’s Field.
Cotuit starts its parade at 11 am at the post office, moving down School Street to Main Street and ending at the Cotuit Elementary School.


Falmouth hosts a Bike and Carriage Parade, starting at the Bank of America across from the Falmouth Village Green and ending at Peg Noonan Park.


Hyannis has an afternoon Independence Day parade, “America and All That Jazz”, starting at 4 pm on Old Colony Road and ending at the Town Hall on South Street. Kids canbe part of a bicycle-decorating contest on the Village Green before the parade, joining the parade as it travels down Main Street.


Hyannis Port will host a road race at 9 am beginning at the post office on Longwood Avenue. The parade will follow at 11 am starting from the same location and ending onto Dale Avenue, ending at the West Beach Club.


Orleans’ Independence Day parade begins at 10 am at the Nauset Middle School on Eldredge Park Way.


Osterville’s parade begins at 11 am on Webster Street, turning onto Sea View Avenue and then Warren Street where it will end.


Sandwich hosts the Spirit of Sandwich 4th of July parade beginning at 10 am on Water Street and traveling down Morse Road to end at the fields behind Wing School.
