The second single from country-rocker Jason Aldean's third CD, Wide Open, appears to be another record-breaking track for the platinum-selling artist, according to early chart numbers and download tallies.
Just two weeks since its May 26 release, the "lower-geared"-feeling "Big Green Tractor" has plowed its way into the nation's Top 30 quickly become the fastest rising single of the award-winner's career to date and ignited a 45 percent increase in downloads from week to week.
As it turned out, any single that was released as the follow-up tune to the album's debut single, the gold-certified "She's Country," had its work cut out for it. Undoubtedly, though, the popularity of the recent No. 1 has helped spur the quick success of "Big Green Tractor," which represents Aldean in a laid-back, "let's just groove awhile" state of mind musically versus the aggressive-turned-chart-topping "She's Country."
Penned by James Collins Jr. and David Lee Murphy. there's not music clip just yet for "Big Green Tractor." And if one doesn't surface, well, that's likely because No. 1, Aldean clearly doesn't have to have video to push his popularity or record sales at the moment or No. 2, he's just flat-out too dang busy to get one made, thanks to this week's CMA Music Festival activities/mayhem in Nashville, not to mention his current arena tour in support of Wide Open, which has rooted itself atop Billboard's Country Albums chart alongside the likes of Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts, among others.
And speaking of the 2009 CMA festival, the Georgia native will headline the June 12 festival show at Nashville's LP Field on Friday, June 12, before heading to the Big Apple for a string of back-to-back appearances, including June 15 stops at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Fox & Friends before jetting back to Music City for the CMT Music Awards on June 16. Then, on June 26, fans can catch the premiere of the CMT Crossroads broadcast that features Aldean and Bryan Adams on the cable network.
