Oakland Raiders fourth round pick Louis Murphy proclaims himself to be a hard worker. He said that he hit it off with wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal when he came out to Alameda to meet with the Oakland Raiders at headquarters. After the selection of Darrius Heyward-Bey in the first round, he didn't expect the Raiders to give him a call.
Murphy, who was a team captain with the Gators in 2008, prides himself in being a hard worker. He says that whilst the Florida Gators run the "spread" offense, which is often a knock on college receivers, the Gators' version of spread, their routes are similar to pro-style routes.
"I got a call from the Raiders organization asking if I wanted to be a part of the Oakland Raiders, and I said, 'of course!'"
He said that the coaches were surprised by his football knowledge and his knowledge of the pro routes. He had a great visit and hit it off with the Lal.
"I don't think its going to be a big learning curve."
He says that he is a hard working player who is going to give it his best in everything he is asked to do. He comes from a National Championship program and believes that the veterans and recent picks have what it takes to be a winner.
He looks forward to catching passes from JaMarcus Russell, and says that he will go hard on the field.
