At 3-10 there is nothing left for the Oakland Raiders to play for. The concept of playing for pride went out the door as the team laughed it up following the obliteration they received at the hands of the San Diego Chargers. It is painfully obvious that the majority of the team no longer cares whether they win or lose. In fact, the Raider Nation, cares more than most of these guys who are collecting fat paychecks from Al Davis to impersonate Raiders.
Once the team had their blatant self destruct against the Kansas City Chiefs, rather than any momentum following the Denver win, the white flag of surrender had replaced the Jolly Roger as the livery of the 2008 edition of the Raiders. Here is a look at the Raiders' last three games:
New England Patriots: The Raider Nation has had this game circled on their calendars since the schedule was released. Former Raiders LaMont Jordan and Randy Moss will return to Oakland to face the boos from the Nation. The Nation is also still bitter from the Snow Job in January of 2002. The team has packed it in, and the Pats are playing for playoff position despite the loss of Tom Brady. Expect to see the Raiders blown out of the water.
Houston Texans: The Oakland Raiders have never beaten the Houston Texans. One would think that would motivate a team to step it up, to get that first win against a certain opponent. However, the Raiders had a chance to end an eleven game losing streak to a division rival that was not playing well. They got blown out. The Texans will be playing for pride, the Raiders will be playing for paychecks.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: At the beginning of the season, this was thought to be the Kiffin-Bowl. It was going to be offensive guru Lane Kiffin against his dad the defensive guru. Instead, its going to be former Raider Head Coach Jon Gruden and his defensive coordinator who is the father of the coach who was disgraced by Al Davis. The Bucs will be looking for blood. The Raiders will be making their plans for the offseason.
