Nestled in the hipster capital of the world (seriously), Rye, located on south 1st street between Havemeyer and Roebling, is the place where wandering eyes meet spoon. The spankin' new American-food restaurant is lead by seasoned chef Cal Elliot (DuMont, Dressler), making the spot both pocket-book friendly and nice to the taste buds.
Recommended dishes come in meat; try the pork belly and short rib sliders (actually, they're more like full sandwiches), the sloppy joe-like meatloaf sandwich or the duck breast or hanger steak from the "grill" menu.
Expect to dole out about $15 - 22 per entree, and more if you want a fabulous cocktail. Dram's Tom Chadwick created a list of Hemmingway-era mixer-ies (including a white rum concoction by the same name) that rival the usual lime, tonics and well around the corner.
Take L to Bedford Avenue or the J-M-Z to Marcy Avenue to hit up this old-bodega-turned-new hip and hot spot.
