San Francisco turns 'Gorgeous and Green'

The Bently Reserve turned green on Tuesday night – “Gorgeous and Green” that is. Global Green USA hosted their 4th annual benefit party complete with celebrities (Kate Bosworth!), organic cocktails (gotta love that Square One Vodka!), eco-chic fashion (Del Forte Denim! Cari Borja! Sara Shepherd!) and, of course, an intense focus on green solutions that will aid the world’s economic, energy and environmental issues.
“We are truly honored by the support of the San Francisco community to embrace Global Green’s mission to fight climate change and protect our coastal cities at risk,” said Global Green President and CEO Matt Petersen in a statement. He, along with Zem Joaquin and Nadine Weil (who, by the way, looked gorgeous in their gowns) co-chaired this year's event.

In the past years, the event has been a green hotbed to celebs who not only support the cause, but are very active with their green initiative. Brad Pitt has partnered with Global Green to rebuild New Orleans neighborhoods after Hurricane Katrina, Salma Hayek and Jake Gyllenhaal traveled to the Arctic to draw attention of global warming and other stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom (who have made an appearance in SF at the 2nd annual Gorgeous and Green) and Charlize Theron are virtual ambassadors, campaigning for Global Green.
This year, Kate Bosworth, Daphne Zuniga and American Idol alum Elliott Yamin showed their support for the organization this year in San Francisco.
Bosworth, who just recently put her hat into the Global Green ring said that even though it sounds cliché, she wants to help save the world. She knows that she can’t do it by herself, but she knows that people can do it collectively.
“The more I learn about how far we have come, the more I am inspired and grateful to be a part of (Global Green) to help find solutions and to inspire other people,” said Bosworth.
Zuniga, known for her roles in Melrose Place and Spaceballs (I loved that movie), has been a green advocate for years. Her involvement in Global Green USA stems from the fact that they are very hands on.
“There’s a lot of what people call ‘green washing.’ A lot of people get on a bandwagon because it profits them,” says Zuniga. “You can go to Global Green's shop in Santa Monica and see how you can green your own home. They get stuff done and that’s so important right now.”
“I’ve been more socially conscious since I’ve been in the business,” adds Yamin, who performed an acoustic set earlier in the evening for the ‘green’ V.I.P.S. “I have a better platform to do things like (Global Green). I try to do everything I can to contribute to this movement.”
Later that evening people got to mingle amongst an illuminated green setting with cocktails, food (I was constantly hunting the people with trays of cheese) and slammin’ and bangin’ music from DJ Donovan.
Patrons also got to enjoy an eco-fashion show in the magical “Wizard of Oz” Emerald City setting featuring sustainable designs by Bahar Shahpar, Cari Borja, Del Forte Denim, Eco Citizen Boutique, Edun, John Patrick Organic, Juleselin, Lara Miller, Larsen Grey, Linda Loudermilk, Loomstate, Loyale, Sara Shepherd, Stewart+Brown, Thomas-Ray Eccles and Lily Achatz.
I left the Bently Reserve feeling even more gorgeous and greener than last year.
