"swatches" Workshop by Donna Downey

Scapdoodles is thrilled to announce that Donna Downey is coming back to their store in Fredericksburg, VA to teach her exclusive workshops. Donna will be teaching four classes on October 23 and 24, 2009.

Donna is a bestselling author, instructor, and creative force in the crafting industry. From working as a popular columnist for Simple Scrapbooks magazine, to traveling the world inspiring women to push the boundaries of their own creativity, Donna is consistently on the leading edge of all things cool related to memory preservation art.

Fabric Scrapbooking
Friday, October 23

Supplies needed

Create a 20 page 8x8 canvas fabric album

Fabric Scrapbooking is an exploration in melding the best of the paper world with the best of the fabric world to create one of the most outstandingly visual and completely tactile memory album experiences. Filled with dozens of techniques and applications for using my new Fabric scrapbooking line just released with Prima, in this workshop, you will create this album using the entire line of products at your fingertips. And best of all, NO SEWING NECESSARY! but be sure and bring an apron because we are going to have some messy and creative FUN!

Supplies needed

Create an 8 page, 6x6 acrylic and chipboard album

Mix and match sizes, shapes, textures, colors, and mediums to create a bold and beautiful hand-painted and collaged mixed media scrapbook. As you experiment with color, each page will be immediately transformed into mini-masterpieces individually colored and designed by you. You will explore new techniques for using watercolor crayons, layering and collage for acrylic album pages, as well as, paint and doodling tips for taking your creative scrapbooking to the next level.

Create an 8 page, 6x12 mixed-media, fabric and paper hybrid album
 
Nothing makes me happier than a scrapbook bursting at the seams with creative bits of paper, fabrics, ribbons and photos...that is unless it incorporates cardboard, stamping, acrylic and transparencies too! This album is an over the top mixed-media experience blending traditional scrapbooking products in unconventional ways that results in a collected scrapbook of memories that is artistic, personal and rich with vibrant color.

Create 3 individual 10" framed canvas Swatch art pieces

You asked for it and here it is!! New in a series of craft media workshops where you'll learn the step-by-step process of how to create my signature Swatch art pieces. In this 4-hour workshop we will create three individual 10" framed canvas Swatch art pieces utilizing more than a dozen art mediums, techniques and tools.  As we create each canvas we will build upon layers of technique and applications, introducing new ideas that will open up multiple creative possibilities for layering and texturizing your art.

Donna’s weekend at Scrapdoodles will include her amazing classes; book signing; opportunity to buy exclusive products; and an inspiring weekend with one of the industries renowned craft-media artists.
