Gays are blessed with plenty of options to get our drink on here in Seattle, especially on Capitol Hill. Most of the time we seem to stick to the same bar, the same people, the same drink.  Lately I have been on a mission to branch out and explore bars that I have heard of, but for some reason, never visited. My journey has taken me from some typical, staple and controvercial locations the hill has to offer.

I have chosen my top 5 bars to throw back a few on Capitol Hill. These are bars to visit when catching up with a friend, when having a not-so-formal work meeting or a kick off to a night of bar hopping. The list is in no particular order. Take a look, check them out and let me know what you think.

C.C. attles
C.C's as it is most commonly known sits at the top of Capitol Hill and has been the bar of choice for the Bear crowd for years. Don't worry if you don't identify as a Bear, C.C's proves to be a welcoming place for everyone and it personally my favorite spot to get a Saturday night started. It's no secret that drinks here are strong and just a couple will help you get your buzz on. Between the patio, pool table and strong drinks C.C's is laid back, welcoming and you definitely get your moneys worth on drinks. Check out Yelp reviews of C.C.'s for some more opinions. Eagle
We all need to move past our Preconceived conceived ideas about The Eagle. Yes, its a dive. Yes, its a leather bar. Yes, they have a sex swing. All of that being said; The Eagle is a great place to hop in and get a beer, a bear and play a very interesting game of pool. I highly recommend going to their Jock Strap Night or their monthly underwear party. These nights tend to be more diverse in clientele and are a good intro to how interesting and exciting this joint can be. The bartenders are nice and there is no pressure to partake in any of the debauchery going on! (206) 621-7591. 314 E Pike St, 98122.

Purr
There is no way I could leave Purr out of this list. Purr is the place to go when you are feeling like putting on your expensive jeans. Drinks are slightly more expensive than other joints but they are well worth it, especially since the bar staff is much friendlier than you'd expect from such a swanky bar. Take out of town guests here or a colleague you'd like to impress. Don't forget to check out the Menu, it offers decent food options. (206) 325-3112. 1518 11th Ave, 98122.

The Elite
There was much debate last year about whether Elites new location lives up to what Gay's were used to when it was at its old location across from Deluxe Burger on Broadway. This is the only Elite I know, but it certainly feels like its been there for years. The staff is among the friendliest in town. I personally like that I can hop in alone, with my laptop (free-wi fi), sit and throw back a beer. This is the place to be to catch a Seahawks game, get a night out on the town started or just kick back a few with a buddy. Read more about The Elite and see more photos at SeattleGayScene.com. (206) 860-0999. 1520 E Olive Way, 98122.

 Madison Pub
Who would have thought that a game of darts could be so fun. Mad Pub, as it is so often reffered to, is always appropriate and has certainly been a staple of Gay Seattle for years. You can spend an entire night there moving from a bar table, pool table or dart board and have a good time everywhere along the way. A couple of friends, a large group or on your own; a drink here comes with a friendly staff an environment that inspires conversation and locals willing to engage. (206) 325-6537. 1315 E Madison St, 98122.
