The British tabloid The Sun reports a fireball with tentacles, white streaks of light, an explosion and the destruction of a large wind turbine blade:
THE UFO wind turbine mystery went international yesterday as debris was sent to Germany for forensic analysis.
Experts there hope to explain how one of the 290ft-high generator’s 65ft blades was ripped off.
Local people claim a flying saucer hit and wrecked the turbine in Conisholme, Lincs.....
Enercon has 13,000 similar turbines around the world — but has never encountered a case of such spectacular damage.
The results of its probe should be revealed within a week.
UFO expert Nick Pope called for the Ministry of Defence to take over the investigation.
I'm wondering if maybe the lights and tentacles weren't caused by ball lightning. I've not only seen ball lightning, but I've watched it roll down the sidewalk towards me, hissing and spitting. Luckily, that was a small one. It was spectacular, mystifying and incredibly beautiful.
But not all ball lightning is just beautiful--ball lightning is dangerous. In 1638, ball lightning ripped into a church in Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Devon, England, killing four people, injuring 20 more, and destroying a large part of the church. The incident later became part of folklore that declared someone's pact with the Devil went very, very badly.
Stay tuned--I'll be having more, lots more, from UFO expert Nick Pope, who's a charming and very well-informed guy. In the meantime, check out my previous UFO stories.
Here's a video from Lenaxa, Kansas, that shows what the poster, Hazel Parsifal, believes to be two episodes of green ball lightning.
Have you ever seen ball lightning? Have photos or video? Let me know!
