MISHA QUINT ANNOUNCES THE 1st SEASON OF THE INTERHARMONY INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL – SAN FRANCISCO

July 1 – July 11, 2009, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

Performances commence July 1 with “An Evening of Cello Music/Misha Quint in Recital" and conclude with the final concert July 11, featuring the InterHarmony Festival Orchestra, conducted by Sidney Harth

Internationally celebrated Russian cellist Misha Quint announces the first season of The INTERHARMONY INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL – San Francisco, July 1–11 at San Francisco State University, where well-known soloists and chamber players from around the globe gather in San Francisco to perform and teach talented young musicians.

This year’s concert series includes performances by Misha Quint and other world-renowned musicians, culminating in an orchestral concert featuring the InterHarmony Festival Orchestra, directed by famed conductor Sidney Harth, former Chicago Symphony Concertmaster & former conductor, L.A. Philharmonic among others.

The San Francisco Festival is just one of three sessions of InterHarmony this year. Two others are held in Birklehof, Schwarzwald in Southern Germany in its 3rd year and Sulzbach-Rosenberg in Bavaria, Germany in its 4th year. Founder and director Misha Quint modeled InterHarmony after his well-established Soesterberg Festival in the Netherlands. Concerts and Master Classes are open to the public (concert schedule included below). Visit www.interharmony.com or call 415.287.4136 for more information.

Having just written at some length about the virtues of the cello in chamber music, I have every intention attending the first concert on Wednesday as a new opportunity to experience chamber music on a budget!
