East Rugby defeats Regis in 4th annual Boot Bowl

The Boot Trophy
The Boot Trophy will remain at East High School for one more year. East Rugby defeated division rival Regis Jesuit High School 36 to 17 in the fourth annual Boot Bowl at Regis Stadium on Wednesday evening.
East began the scoring in the opening minutes, but Regis answered quickly with try and a conversion of their own to tie the score at seven apiece. Two more converted first half trys put East ahead for the night.
East’s victory extends their record to 4-0. It is the third time in four years the State High School Runner-up has taken home the Boot Trophy. East won the first Boot Bowl in 2006 and reclaimed the trophy from Regis in 2008.
Next week, East will host Cherry Creek. Regis hosts Ridgeview.
The Boot Trophy was inspired by institutions such as the Old Oaken Bucket Trophy, which is awarded annually to the winner of the Big Ten Conference in college football. East Coach, Bill Baer, and Regis Coach, Dan O’Leary, created the Boot Trophy to strengthen a respectful rivalry that has existed between East and Regis for years. Each year the trophy is awarded to the winning team.
