In case you weren't aware, Taylor Lautner is something of a groomed martial artist (and if you need proof of that, please refer to the video below).
In a recent interview that Lautner did with Metro Canada, Lautner referred to the fact that he did a lot of his own stunts for The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Some of the those stunts, imaginably, included those contained in the transformation sequences (running, jumping, and the like) that we got a smidgeon of in the trailer.
One look at this black belt at work will show that he is quite adept at those very activities.
In New Moon, Lautner's character Jacob certainly did his biddance to physical prowess in human form (what with all of the motorcycle-wielding and forest-trudging, for instance). However, most of his moments of combat took place in the canine predicament otherwise known as the wolf-form. While a few light tussles got into Jacob's daily life, the brunt of his fight scenes took place in the other form.
So, it begs the question: as advanced as Taylor Lautner has proven himself to be in martial artistry, has it helped him with New Moon? An obvious answer may be "yes," even if only for the fact that it was an endurance and strength-building history that assisted Lautner in building his muscle for the film. Any other thoughts?
