In Chris Weitz's interview with HitFlix, we learned that The Twilight Saga: New Moon drafts were due to Summit Entertainment in the few next coming weeks. After Weitz submits his work on New Moon, his involvement with the Twilight series will go the way of Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. Making way for the incoming of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade, Weitz will continue on from the series with new and different projects.
So what is Weitz getting into next?
Firstly, Weitz will be producing a new book-to-film story through his production company Depth of Field called The Game. Starring Poorna Jagannathan, Sagine, Billy Snow, and Jennifer Malenke, The Game is based on a novel by Neil Strauss and is said to be about "a loser [that] transforms himself into the city's best pick-up artist."
Secondly, Depth of Field and Chris Weitz will be producing a book-to-film project called the Untitled Elric Saga Project based on novels by Michael Moorcock. His brother, Paul Weitz, will also be producing the film.
Thirdly, Chris Weitz is also teaming up with his brother in an up-coming film entitled Another Bullsh!t Night In Suck City. The film is based upon the best-selling Nick Flynn novel about the life of a man who works in homeless shelters and has extreme issues with his father (who has his own set of problems as well). The film is to be directed by Paul Weitz and will star Robert De Niro and Casey Affleck.
Weitz also recently produced a film entitled A Single Man that is currently in the post-production stages. The film stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, Ginnifer Goodwin, Nicholas Hoult, and Paulette Lamori. No release date for that project has yet been announced.
