IMDb STARmeter has Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, rest of 'Twilight' cast at top ten

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, and Kellan Lutz, all stars of Twilight and returning cast members of The Twilight Saga: New Moon are all in the top ten stars according to the Internet Movie Database [IMDb] list.

The STARmeter, which "represent[s] what people are interested in, based not on small statistical samplings, but on the actual behavior of millions of IMDb users," "do[es] not necessarily mean that something is "good." They do mean that there is a high level of public awareness and/or interest in the title or person," says IMDb.

How are IMDb's rankings calculated? Says IMDb, it "uses proprietary algorithms that take into account several measures of popularity for people and titles. The primary measure is who and what people are looking at on the public IMDb.com website. Other factors include Box office receipts and user quality votes on a scale of 1-10. The rankings are updated on a weekly basis." What kind of numbers are involved in these calculations? IMDb says, "We . . . offer a nearly unlimited set of choices with over 1 million titles and over 2,300,000 people to choose from, and base our rankings on the behavior of a sampling group of over 57 million monthly visitors in a real-world environment." That's a lot of people, which makes this news even better for our Twilight stars (the full list available below).

Ranking number one and number two consecutively, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are enjoying quite a bit of post-Twilight intrigue as well with their various new works. Kristen Stewart's film The Cake Eaters was just released on DVD the same day as Twilight was, while her film Adventureland just came out in theaters last night. Rob, whose film How to Be is making waves with its soundtrack release, is also preparing for his major role in Little Ashes to take the fore of many of his fans' attentions, while both of them stay busy filming The Twilight Saga: New Moon in the process of it all.

Other stars of the Twilight series include Billy Burke, Elizabeth Reaser, Christian Serratos, Dakota Fanning, Anna Kendrick, Michael Welch, Justin Chon, Gregory Tyree Boyce, Billy Burke, Edi Gathegi, Rachelle LeFevre, Jamie Campbell-Bower, Noot Seear, Bronson Pelletier, Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman.

Needless to say, on IMDb's other list the MOVIEmeter, 2008's Twilight rests in a comfortable first place, with yet-to-be-releaesd The Twilight Saga: New Moon sitting in third under the Nicholas Cage action-packed Knowing in second.

Translation: Twilight, its cast, and its fans are taking over the web, one site at a time. Today, IMDb, tomorrow.... ?
