Set on the shores of the famous Malleo River in northwest Patagonia, San Huberto’s tended gardens gradually give way to wilder surroundings. The classic guesthouse belongs to an old cattle-farming ranch created in 1890. The present-day descendants of that original founding family have kept up the farming tradition and added other activities such as sport fishing, bird and wildlife watching, tennis and horseback riding. Anglers need only pick up their rods and stroll out a few yards where the lively runs and green pools of the Malleo alternate with smooth, glassy stretches. Just a few minutes away, guests can enjoy fishing or floated river trips.
While the area’s become renowned for spectacular big-game hunting trophies, neighboring Estancia Loncoluán offers 22,000 acres that yield world-class specimens.
San Huberto provides its own landing strip and helipad for those who wish to arrive directly by air.
