Jeremy Walter holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from Penn State. He is head of the Engineering Analysis and Design Department with the Energy Science and Power Systems Division at Applied Research Laboratory (ARL).
He is a scientist and adheres to young earth creation (YEC).
Following are a few of his insights/thoughts on science, scientists and why he adheres to creation in 6 days.
"True science does not contradict God's inscription on stone that 'in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them?'" Exodus 20:11.
"Scientific evidence can be compiled to support one model of earth history as compared to another, but such work amounts to a feasibility study, not proof."
"Certain axiomatic principles must be accepted by faith for this method (observation, hypothesis, and experimental validation) to be valid."
"Observations are of the present, not the past."
"The farther removed in time or distance an indirect observation is, the greater the opportunity for distorted perception."
"Evidence contradictory to the hypothesis (OEC) is either suppressed or ignored because of preconceived assumptions."
"Present-day erosion conditions applied uniformly in the past could not account for the unusual formation of the Grand Canyon."
"The canyon walls (Cascades of Washington) resemble others that assumed to be of great age, even though they are known to be less than 20 years old."
"Science can only discuss the prehistoric past."
"..eruption of Mount St. Helens gives credence, if not preference to the concept that the earth's geology did not require long periods of time to develop. Many puzzling formations can only be explained through cataclysmic forces."
"Dating methods are built on assumptions that must be critically questioned and evaluated."
"Science can contribute by determining what is possible, but cannot infallibly reconstruct the past."
