Summer picnics are a popular way to celebrate the patriotic holidays of America, such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. The colors of the American Flag can add festivity and meaning to the holiday table. Red, white and blue are eye catching colors that are stunning looking and appetizing. Summer desserts, using the fresh berries of summer, add color to Strawberries and Blueberries by John Mason sxcthe picnic table. Food Network features All – American 4th of July Desserts,  terrific for any summer party.
 

Summer desserts tend to be light and delicious. Berries are fresh in the summer, so this is the very best time to enjoy the blue and red jewels of summer.
 

Red, white and blue are colors found in nature, particularly in the tasty summer berries. In early to mid summer berries, such as blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are fresh and plentiful.
 

Berries are delicious on their own or with a dollop of whipped cream. Any mixture of berries on a piece of short cake or Angel food cake, topped with whipping cream, is a simple and delicious dessert.

The chefs of Food Network have put together some dessert recipes for 4th of July. The recipes and video instructions are on the Food Network All American 4th of July Dessert Recipes website.

Here are some terrific dessert recipes from the food network, from chefs Sandra Lee, Paula Dean, Ina and The Neelys. .All - American 4th of July Dessert Recipes.  Recipes and instructions will be found for the following desserts.
 

  • Paula Deen's Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake. Paula Deen makes a cake starting with a base of a box of white cake mix with strawberry gelatin and frozen strawberries topped with a strawberry cream cheese frosting.
     
  • Sandra Lee makes a Red, White and Blue Trifle with chocolate cake, whipped topping, blueberries and strawberries.
     
  • Ina makes a sheet cake and decorates it with cream cheese frosting, blueberries and raspberries to make a colorful American Flag.
     
  • Paula's Home Cooking makes Strawberries stuffed with cream cheese and pecans.
     
  • The Neelys make a Blueberry Crisp with a pecan – oatmeal topping.
