Why Bruce Willis and other stars love Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos
Actor Bruce Willis chose to marry his new bride, model Emma Heming, on the small island of Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos last week. Parrot Cay (pronounced "key") is a tiny 1,000-acre private island in the Caribbean and a favorite of celebrities due to its secluded location, gorgeous beaches and exclsuvie service.
Stars who have vacationed in Parrot Cay include Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney and Britney Spears. Ben Affleck married Jennifer Garner in Parrot Cay and Eva Longoria and Tony Parker honeymooned there. Bruce Willis loved it so much he built a house there called
The Residence, which is available for rent when he's not there.
Designer Donna Karan says "Parrot Cay brings my favorite things in the world together. It's East meets West... a hidden treasure--the turquoise water, the white, white sand."
The Parrot Cay resort, which opened in 1999, has 60 rooms, including suites and beachfront villas (villas start at $2600 a night). One of the big attractions at the Parrot Cay resort is the
Shambhala spa, which offers traditional Indonesian treatments and week-long yoga retreats with world-renowned yoga teachers. Demi Moore has been spotted in the past doing yoga on the beach at Parrot Cay.
The island is only accessible by boat and there are no cars on the island, only golf carts. Three miles of white sand beaches, coral reefs, azure-blue water and natural vegetation make Parrot Cay a modern-day fantasy island.
