It's a lament heard around the Valley, at networking events, in business meetings, over cups in coffee shops: "Banks just aren't lending anymore".
Well that's just not true! There are several banks that have funds available and are making loans to women and minority small business owners.
Here are a few lenders who've said they have funding available for business owners:
Deborah Bateman at National Bank of Arizona, in fact, heads a team of bankers dedicated to women business owners. The Women's Financial Group is 'banking by women for women'. They offer a complete portfolio of banking services for women including businesss & not-for-proft banking, personal banking services, personal financing and investment services.
Sonoran Bank focuses on the minority business market but provides services and funds to the broader market. They were specifically invited to the White House to meet with the President and hear his plan to pull small business out of the recession. Frank Coumides had a seat in the front row at the White House and got to shake the President's hand.
AmTrust Bank offers rewards points on its credit cards and is active in the small business community. AmTrust is a leader in electronic mortgage closings. With the introduction of a web-based, electronic closing solution, AmTrust has taken another step toward its vision of a paperless mortgage lending experience.
Bank of Arizona received an “Outstanding” Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rating, the highest possible rating, from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Only 15 percent of banks regulated by the OCC achieve the “Outstanding” rating. Through their team approach they strive to provide a “community bank” relationship with the “large bank” resources.
Republic Bank is a small community business bank that focuses on small busines entrepreneurs. They have a variety of lending products for women & minority small business owners through their partnership with the SBA (Small Business Administration).
There are undoubtedly more banks out there that are doing great things with the small and women owned business community. These are the ones with which the reporter is familiar. If there are other banks also active in the women owned business community and are currently lending, please post a comment with their information to this article.
