The Lambda Literary Awards recognizes outstanding works in the field of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender literature. The nominee list has been released, and winners will be announced on May 28.

Among the nominees?

SF performance artist and poet Daphne Gottlieb was nominated for her poetry collection Kissing Dead Girls, thematized around the idea of making out with historical women. (Read an excerpt on Amelia Earhart. Ooh la la indeed).

Oakland resident Thea Hillman was nominated for Intersex (For Lack of a Better Word) under the Lesbian Memoir/Biography category.

In total, there are 105 nominees, including titles from the Bay Area's Seal Press, MacAdam/Cage, CIty Lights Publishers, and Manic D Press.
