Michael was the only member of his Elementary School A/V Club. He now spends most of his time editing videos of him lip-synching to Miley Cyrus songs, playing with the latest coolest gadgets and uploading photos to the interwebs, all while trying to spiral uncontrollably into becoming a multi-media conglomeration; oh yeah, and he's got a blog.

Glam it up at Glamorama '08

August 21, 8:26 AM
by Michael Lehet, Chicago Gay Examiner

It's time for Glamorama 2008, in fact it's the 10th Anniversary.  This signature fashion event and fundraiser benefits the Art Institute of Chicago with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Children's Cancer Center.  In it's 10th fabulous year, the headliners this year include 80's pop icons: Cyndi Lauper and MC Hammer.

The theme this year is "Pop Candy Arcade" a salute to 80's Glam Pop!  Held at the the historic Chicago Theater it will showcase the music of Lauper and Hammer while filling the theater with a beauty from the Fall Season of designers Oval Room and 28 Shop as well as showcasing the latest fall fashion from other top European and American designers.

"Glamorama 2008 pumps it up '80s style with bodacious fashion, bangin' music and totally awesome entertainment, all with a modern twist," said Jennifer Wilkins, Macy's Trend Expert. "From the stellar show to our over-the-top post-party, Glam guests will go back to the '80s in style."

And you can bet on that.....remember a few years ago when Macy's (**Update - it was Marshall Fields - thanks Jim) had their models walking DOWN the side of the State Street store?

Glamorama 2008 is a fully choreographed runway show that will feature high-tech video with pulsating music and the hottest fashion from around the globe.

Glamorama boasts designer fashion, world-class entertainment, celebrity attendees and an elaborate post-party. Over the past 10 years and formerly under the Marshall Field’s name, Glamorama has raised nearly $2 million for the Art Institute of Chicago.

Can you believe there's something even better than the Fashion Show?  There is - The After Party!!!

Following the show, you'll get your chance to party on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street for an elaborate "flashback post-party."  The 7th floor will be transformed into a rockin scene including the Rubik's Cube lounge, Packman and Donkey Kong arcade game competitions, Guitar Here battles to hits of the 80's and interactive break-dancer performance.  There will be giant video screens playing 80's music videos (Thriller anyone) along with color-changing neon walls.  DJ Berrie will spin in a totally 80's inspired "boom box" shaped DJ Booth above the dance floor.

Don't miss this totally Glam Experience, tickets are still available.
