Nestled in the months between its Peach Festival and Oatmeal Festival, Lafayette has been running its Celebrate Lafayette street fair since 1956. This year's theme is Living Green: A Commitment to Sustainable Environment. 

This free, Zero-Waste Event will officially kickoff after the parade at 11:30 a.m., with special presentations by Dr. James H. Butler, Director of GMD, NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory as well as representatives from the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office and Lafayette’s Energy Sustainability Committee. The presentations will take place on the main stage at Public Road and E. Cleveland Street.

Schedule of Events

Free pancake breakfast: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., sponsored by the Lafayette Lions' Club.  Donations appreciated and will benefit Lafayette Elementary Schools.  Breakfast will be served at the V.F.W. at 105 W. Emma Street.

Parade: Starts at 10:00 a.m. along Public Rd. from City Center Dr. and Public Rd. to Cannon St.

Street fair: Starts at 10:00 a.m. along Public Rd. from Geneseo to Cannon St. Come visit the booths and exhibits from green vendors and educators presenting everything from renewable energy technology to everyday products and services, mini-workshops, demonstrations, book signings and more. Learn about the Solar Decathlon program, CU’s collaboration on the Excel Energy’s SmartGridCity and local green resources available to residents and businesses.

Entertainment: Funkiphino at 1:00 p.m. in the tent at Cleveland and Public Rd.

Special kids' activities: Kids' art activities, balloon sculpting and face painting from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the tent on Geneseo and Public Rd.

Directions to Celebrate Lafayette

  • FROM BOULDER:  Take Arapahoe Rd. east to Highway 287, go south to Baseline Road.  Turn left on Baseline - going east.  Follow Baseline to Public Rd., turn right.  Go south on Public Rd. to event area.
  • FROM DENVER:  Take 1-25 north to Hwy 7 (Baseline Rd.).  Go west (left) to Lafayette.  Turn left (south) onto Public Rd., go south to event area.
  • FROM LONGMONTTake Hwy. 287 south to Baseline Rd., turn left (east).  Follow Baseline Rd. to Public Rd. - turn right.  Go south on Public to event area.
