Marco Belinelli’s English has gotten significantly better over the course of the past year.
The second-year Italian's still got room to improve, but he’s plenty fluent enough to let you know that this season hasn’t been easy for him.
Heading into Wednesday’s game against Denver, Belinelli had logged all of four total minutes through the first four games.
“Yeah, why not,” Belinelli answered, when asked if he was frustrated. “I’m not happy. Four or five games in and I’ve only played a few minutes. … It’s my second year. I have to play. But I don’t know, we’ll see.”
Warriors coach Don Nelson spent most of his pregame talk with the media explaining that he didn’t feel as if Belinelli and rookie Anthony Randolph were NBA-ready.
Nelson said Belinelli isn’t playing better than his competition at practice, and that he lacks confidence using him in a game.
I asked Belinelli if Nelson has talked to him about what he needs to do better, or more of, to get playing time.
“We talk about nothing this season,” Belinelli said. “I’m happy when the team is winning. But at this moment, it’s difficult. But it’s hard because you don’t feel a part of the tem. I’ll just keep working, that’s it.”
I asked Belinelli if he knew what the word “bewildered” meant.
He said he did and that’s what he was.
