If you’re looking for a sign the Warriors’ point guard position is anything but settled, proof was walking around the practice facility with a ball under his arm on Wednesday.
Dan Dickau was in the house.
Dickau has played for six NBA teams and was just released on Monday by Air Avellino, an Italian team that plays in the Euroleague.
Dickau, 29, played in 67 games last season for the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 5.8 points in 15.5 minutes per game last season.
Baron Davis opted out of his contract over the summer, and the Warriors hoped to have Monta Ellis play the bulk of minutes at point guard this season.
Instead, C.J. Watson and Marcus Williams are battling for minutes _ and now apparently Dickau.
But Ellis injured his left ankle in an off-court accident six weeks ago and will likely not be back until January, at the earliest.
Dickau was selected with the No. 28 pick of the 2002 draft by the Sacramento Kings. His draft rights were traded to Atlanta.
Interestingly, the Warriors had been interested in another former Clippers point guard, Shaun Livingston. Livingston hasn't played since March 2007 after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his knee.
Seeing Dickau in Oakland I couldn't help but think that Livingston must still be really banged-up.
