After decades of recognizing only their team name on their away jerseys, the Orioles rolled out the new “Baltimore” away jerseys at the harbor rally today. The new uniforms are available for purchase online and at local retailers, just in time for the holidays. Purchase your official new away jerseys here.
As an additional nod to local fans, both home and away jerseys will include a patch on the sleeve. The home patch says “Baltimore Orioles” with the colors of the Maryland flag. The away patch says "Orioles baseball" with the state flag colors.
These changes will satisfy local fans who have been calling for the return of “Baltimore” to the jerseys for many years.
Other fans may be disappointed that the throwback cartoon bird is not returning to the Orioles official uniform. The new uniforms and official Orioles-related materials will have a slightly new Oriole bird.

The new bird is still academic textbook-appropriate, though slightly plumper and perhaps more prepared to take flight. Further, the baseball diamond is not a part of the new Oriole bird’s surroundings. He is still perched atop the “I” in “Orioles” and possibly readying to release a plopping on the “r” or the “O.”
