THE LOVER BOAT from SEVEN MOONS

The best sushi platters are found at Seven Moons in North Kingstown, RI. In honor of International Sushi Day, I'll take a virtual tour of the Lover Boat from Seven Moons!

Is Fish Brain Food?

If the old wives' tale, "Fish is Brain Food" is true, then I should be wicked smart by now! I should know right? I've eaten my fair share of sushi! A study was conducted a few years ago and written up in The Archives of Neurology. According to Anahad O'Connor of the New York Times on January 3, 2006, "It (the study) found that elderly people who ate fish at least once a week did better on tests of memory and mental acuity than their peers who did not, and had a 10 percent slower decline in mental skills each year." So, I would like to think that raw sushi is the king of brain foods! Woo Hoo! By the time I retire, I should have an IQ of 175!

Sushi at Seven Moons

Seven Moons restaurant on Post Road in North Kingstown, has a sushi platter that will knock your socks off! It's called the "Lover Boat", and has approximately 36 pieces of the freshest sushi and sashimi, as well as Rainbow & Spicy Tuna Roll, octopus, eel and crab. It's garnished with the greenest and hottest wasabi I've ever seen or tasted, pickled ginger and shredded daikon, and served with little bowls of soy sauce. Hubby and I can eat a whole boatload by ourselves! They also have a great selection of Bento Boxes at all price levels.

Seven Moons offers seven different Asian cuisines; Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. I have no idea how many they seat, but the place is huge! They just went through an extensive renovation, adding more dining room and another bar. We like to sit on the comfortable stools at the sushi bar and watch 5-6 awesome sushi chefs do their thing. There's also 2 large cocktail bars with totally cool, but slightly pricey cocktails.

When to Go to Seven Moons

Open for lunch and dinner Monday thru Saturday. Open at 4:30pm on Sunday for dinner. Don't go on a Friday or Saturday night, unless you're prepared to wait up to an hour or longer. If you're in a hurry, get there before 5:00pm, or order take out. Lunches are quick and reasonably priced.
