Last night the Galaxy tied the Rapids in the Rapid's second home game of the season.  Analysis will take time, but here's my gut reactions for how the players performed.

(A 5 indicates average play, meaning the player played at a similar level to the rest of his team. )

Player Ratings:

Preston Burpo - 7: Burpo can't be faulted on the goal.  He made several courageous saves in the game, even stopping the Galaxy's initial effort on the break away.  Rapids Man of the Match.

Kosuke Kimura - 5: Was subbed out owing to concerns about a concussion.  Kos did well making several stops, but had trouble pushing the ball forward.

Ugo Ihemelu - 5: Continues to be the most consistent player for the Rapids defense.  Would be rated higher but for getting knocked over by Edson Buddle on the goal sequence.

Scott Palguta - 5: Played tough against L.A.'s big striker Alan Gordon.  Palguta is proving to be an able backup to the injured Cory Gibbs, and competition for Ty Harden.  Caught jogging back, losing Donovan on the goal sequence.

Jordan Harvey - 5: Consistent defensively.  Could push the ball forwards safely, but seemed to run out of ideas immediately upon entering the Galaxy's half.

Terry Cooke - 6: Cooke made several good crosses and passes.  His real contribution showed in his hustle play where he tracked back defensively, most spectacularly to cover the right back position while Kimura received medical attention.

Pablo Mastroeni - 4: Pablo made several defensive stops as is to be expected.  Seemed to have trouble with his first touch, and passes were off.  Had a few good opportunities to test the Galaxy goal, but predictably passed off relieving pressure on the defense.

Mehdi Ballouchy - 4: Mehdi pitched in to play some defense, but never made an impression by aiding in possession or the attack.  Drifted around the pitch without any real purpose for much of the game.

Colin Clark - 7: The most dangerous midfielder on the Rapids.  Got the goal, split the defense on two other occasions to threaten.

Conor Casey - 6: Continued to play another full game with a defenders elbow in his back or the back of his head.  Casey continues to demonstrate more pace and control moving towards goal than in past years.

Omar Cummings - 6: Omar dropped back and filled the playmakers role throughout the match.  As a consequence he was constantly pulled too far away from goal by the Rapids midfield's inability to penetrate the Galaxy's defense.

Subs:

Nick LaBrocca - 7: Came in for Kimura to cover at right back.  After several games where he failed to make an influence at right mid, Nick was tops among the Rapids players in playing the ball forward to his team mates.  His linking skills continue to be among the best on the team and are often unappreciated.

Jacob Peterson - 5: Ran hard to little effect.
