The ultimate scooting machine?

I simply couldn't let this bit of news pass without a bit of blogging.... BMW has announced the design of their very own 800, 650 and 500 cc scooters.

Though commenters on this 2strokebuzz.com post have made the excellent point that drive belts and single  engines have already given a very scooterlike dimension to some of BMW's motorcycles, this step-through is the first of its kind from the venerable Bavarian company.

Due to be released to European and Asian markets in 09 or 10, the Bombardier will no doubt be a hit. And BMW would be wise to bring it stateside as soon as possible.

Details are fuzzy, though for a good laugh you can babelfish the Spanish site SoloMoto that leaked the pics and news.

***edited to correct "Bulgarian" to "Bavarian." Duh.
