"Hey, did you know that Iggy's is now Redline?"  "Nope."

Maybe it’s that the original was cool, but each incarnation since has seemed to squander the coolness.  Maybe the era in which sock monkeys constituted edgy décor has expired.  Personally, I think moving to River North and adding a kid’s menu was the final stake through Iggy’s red and black and neon heart.

In its place: Redline.  To make sure people realized the change, owners added gray to the red and black color scheme.  They also trimmed the sock monkeys.  And that’s more or less it.  Same late-night kitchen serving a very similar menu of burgers, salads and pastas, and same decent beer bottle list.  As of press time, it’s not clear if anyone has registered the change.

There must be an Iggy’s diehard out there who can explain the old allure. And then, in 300 words or less, go on to explain why Redline whiffs.
