For the past three weeks we have focused on vodka based drinks for Bacon Monday and that changes today. Today we have....whisky! More specifically bacon infused Maker's Mark Whisky!

Today I went for a bastardized version on an Old Fashioned.

  • 2 oz bacon infused whisky
  • ¼ oz pure maple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Mix in ice filled shaker, serve over ice in a rocks glass. Use drunken bacon as garnish.

The results were enjoyable. Although the flavor of the whisky was still there, the “bite” was gone.  It was replaced with a sweet and salty aftertaste that complimented the Maker's Mark.

Another way to infuse the whisky can be seen here.

I have to say... I really love that giant ice cube!

I have to disagree with the way the video makes their whisky. Letting cooked bacon soak in whisky will result in a much better flavor and a much more enjoyable drink.

Next week we will be trying various bacon drinks made with Bacon Salt!

Cheers!
