Southern Colorado Beer Examiner
According to Eli Shayotovich, beer is the elixir of the gods. It's a beverage made of hops, barley and a pantheon of other delicacies that when looked at properly - through beer goggles perhaps - has changed the course of human history. Plant manager by day, freelance writer by passion... when not imbibing great Colorado craft brews he's writing about them somewhere on the Interweb, including on his own blog (www.ConfessionsofaBeerGeek.com).

Beer Tap TV - Internet Television Brewed in the USA!

October 10, 12:07 PM

           Spillin' knowledge since 2008!
For those of you who follow any of the Food and Drink Examiners here at Examiner.com with any frequency than you likely know about a network called MOJO HD. It's home to some great food and drinking shows, including my personal favorite - Three Sheets with Zane Lamprey.

As stock markets melt down around the globe I thought I would keep with the theme of "Black Friday" and bring more bad news.  MOJO HD is going black.  As of December 1 they will cease functioning as a network. No more Pressure Cook with Ralph Pagano. No more After Hours with Daniel Boulud. No more Uncorked with Billy Merritt. Nada. Fortunately, Three Sheets is not dead. In fact, Zane is currently in Greece filming an episode for season 4. It's moving to another network, I just don't know which one yet.

Since the MOJO network is going the way of the dinosaur I figured now was as good a time as any to promote a possible substitute for your televised drinking needs.  I recently joined forces with Erik Boles, Dusty Frazier and David Stanley at Beer Tap TV - Internet Television Brewed in the USA!  I've had them linked under the "SoCo Brew-related Marvels" tab from day one, and they're based in Colorado Springs, so technically... they're 100% SoCo beer related.

Beer Tap TV is owned by Channel Snap Media, a Class C Corporation complete with a Board of Directors (folks from various media venues whose names and positions would truly blow you away; I know it blew me away!). All shows are filmed with professional grade equipment, including a High Definition camera. This is not a fly by night operation. Additionally, I did not help start this company. In fact, I didn't even know about them until they contacted me several months back to be a guest on the show. I went on, we all clicked, one thing led to another and now I'm working with them! Hey, I know a GREAT thing when I see one!

Think of BTTV as an umbrella "network" with a handful of beer related shows:

  • Tapping the Keg features brewery openings as well as new (or annual) beer release parties. Ready for your viewing pleasure is the grand opening of Trinity Brewing Company in Colorado Springs where I talk with Todd Walton. A second episode was recently filmed at Bristol Brewing's Winter Warlock release party. I chatted with Mike Bristol, and it should be airing soon.
  • Beer Buzz is a weekly show with Erik and myself that keeps you informed on all the wild and wacky things going on in the beer world, from the noteworthy to the nutty. Episodes 001 and 002 are online and ready for your perusal!
  • The Brewmaster Chronicles takes you behind the scenes... WAAAAY behind the scenes. We'll sit down with Brewmasters and Head Brewers from craft breweries all over the world and see what makes them -- and their brews -- tick. In the first episode we talk with Jason Yester, co-owner and head brewer of Trinity Brewing Company. Jason is the ex-head brewer at Bristol. We filmed a second episode last Friday with Joe Hull from Bristol that will air soon.
  • Taste Buds is the original BTTV show with Erik and Dusty (and sometimes David) -- just some beer buds throwing back brews and giving their own personal spin on 'em. It's the show that takes your taste buds on an adventure!

Two more shows are in the early stages of development, including a "travel show" (what, you thought The Beer Bucket List was dead?) and a "cooking with beer show."

But this isn't just us serving you a keg full of beer every week.  We certainly don't (and can't) know everything... that's why we want your input, feedback, ideas, and participation! Know of a new beer taping at your local brewery? Let us know! Have a place you want us to come visit?  Let us know!  We've relaunched the website to include forums, blogs, photo albums, a calendar of events... everything needed for community interaction! So if you're jonesing for some televised beery goodness, Beer Tap TV is the place you wanna be!
