How about a nice, hearty bowl of soup to take the edge of off autumn’s frigid breeze? At Boordy Vineyards, located in the Long Green Valley of northeastern Baltimore County, guests can delight in many fineries, gorging and events such as wine tours and the ever popular Soups in the Cellar event each autumn.
Soups in the Cellar is a month-long event held on Sundays in November. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., guests may come out to the 1830s stone wine cellar and experience a hearty featured soup while gorging on award-winning wines. A different local musician will be featured each week. Kicking off the first of November, Deadwood will perform Classic Rock. On Nov. 8, The Wayfarers will bring you Indy Folk Music. Victoria Vox will be at the cellar on Nov. 15 and will play contemporary Ukulele tunes. Nov. 22 will feature House of Cadarn as they serenade you with Historical Folk Music, and The Gigs will rap up the event on Nov. 29 with Classic Rock.
Featured soups for this event include: Southwest Shrimp and Corn Chowder, Tomato Cheddar Bisque, Mulligatawny and Double Smoked Bacon and Black Lentil. In addition to these seasonal soups, guests will also be served handcrafted organic breads to accompany their soups and wines. Want to learn more about winemaking? Then don’t miss the included guided tour of the Boordy Winery. Have a little dessert following your meal as you stop by to roast marshmallows over an open flame cauldron. The cost for Soups in the Cellar is $15 per person. You may buy your tickets at the door or make a purchase online.
