The 7th annual Charlotte Blues, Brews and BBQ festival / competition kicked off Friday morning in Southern Rock style with the local band Preacher Stone paying homage to our southern roots. Blues, Brews, & BBQ features music, beer, and BBQ at its best!
.Celebrating a recent full length CD release this summer, Preacher Stone rocked the uptown audience for 2 hours featuring just about every song on their CD along with crowd favorites by legendary rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company to name a couple.
Marty Hill and Benny Huntt put on a demonstration in electric guitar compliments as they traded lead back & forth bringing their music to new heights as the day wore on reaching a crescendo during their rendition of Freebird. Lead singer Ronnie Riddle brought on true Southern rock vocals in performing the bands self titled CD numbers. True to genre tunes like Mother To Bed, Tractor Pull, Brother's Keeper and the ballad Blood From A Stone had the downtown bankers rockin' as they enjoyed their BBQ lunches.
The band scored on this morning set - picked up several new fans, turned some merch and made new friends in their hometown.
I hope you get a chance to get out to the festival - Contagious Blues closes the night tonight with a set from 9:30 to 11:00 which will be another rockin' good time in the Queen City music scene.
