He knows when you are sleeping; he knows when you're awake.
This Very Special SF Gay Examiner Pride Guide™ is by no means exhaustive. If you'd like to see your gay-ass event here, just drop me a line at gayexaminer@gmail.com

Huzzah! Leave it to The Gays to devote an entire week in June to worshipping the chief of the Seven Deadly Sins. Yes, it's time once again for the seven-day bacchanal we call SF Gay Shame Pride.

MONDAY 6/23

Manic Mondays at The Bar on Castro (456 Castro). '80s music and 80¢ Cosmos. Starts at 8 pm, naturally. No cover before 10 pm.

Gay/Not Gay at El Rio (3158 Mission). Start off Pride week by testing your gaydar at a party devoted entirely to sexual ambiguity. Starts at 9 pm; $2.

TUESDAY 6/24

The Golden Gate Men’s Chorus at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (50 Oak). The final performance of GGMC's summer concert, featuring the West Coast premiere of David Del Tredici's "Queer Hosannas." 8 pm; $20. Call 415-668-4462 for more info.

WEDNESDAY 6/25

SF Leather Pride Meet & Greet
at Chaps Bar (1225 Folsom). An event designed for out-of-towners to get plugged into the local kink scene, and for locals to check out the fresh meat. 7 pm; free.

Dream Queen’s Revue at Aunt Charlie's (133 Turk). As mistress of ceremonies Gina La Divina says, "The girls are cheap, but the drag isn't." So bring a stack of one-dollar bills—Vicki Marlane wants a new pair of shoes. 10 pm; free.

THURSDAY 6/26

30th Annual Pride Concert: Our Message is Music at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Francisco (1187 Franklin). The Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus join up to celebrate the
30th anniversary of the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band. 8 pm; $15-$40. Call 415-865-ARTS for more info.

FRIDAY 6/27

Marga & More Boys at the SF LGBT Community Center (1800 Market). Everyone knows that Pride can get a little self-serious, so praise Jeebus that Marga Gomez is hosting an evening of tactless laughs with queer comics Ali Mafi, Ronn Vigh, and Thai Rivera. 8 pm; $12-$15.
Call
415-864-4124 for more info.

Tradeshow/Mr. at Mighty (119 Utah). Tradeshow (8-11 pm) is a silent auction featuring portraits of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence; Mr. (10 pm-6 am) is the all-night dance party that follows. $10 in advance; $20 at the door. Call 415-626-7001 for more info.

30th Annual Pride Concert: Our Message is Music at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Francisco (1187 Franklin). See listing under Thursday 6/26.

Cream at DNA Lounge (375 11th St.). Crystal Waters hosts a giant party just for the ladies. 9 pm-3 am.

SATURDAY 6/28

Pink Triangle Installation and Commemoration Ceremony on Twin Peaks. From 7-10 am, the Friends of the Pink Triangle will install a giant pink triangle at the top of Twin Peaks, just as they've done every Pride weekend since 1996. Commemoration at 10:30 am; free.

10th Annual Pride Brunch at Hotel Whitcomb (1231 Market). Gary Virginia and Donna Sachet host this event in honor of this year's grand marshals and in support of the Positive Resource Center. 11 am-2 pm; $75-$100. Visit www.positiveresource.org for more information.

Pride Celebration at Civic Center. The week's main event, with a ridiculous number of stages, booths, food items, and horny revelers. Noon to 6 pm.

Dyke March
at Dolores Park. Men aren't allowed to participate, but they can certainly cheer. Rally at 3 pm; march begins at 7 pm.

Gay Shame at Modern Times Bookstore (888 Valencia). Because by Saturday, you just might be ready to vent at this weekly anti-consumerist gathering. 5:30 pm; free.

Cocked and Loaded: Gay Pride Happy Hour at Underground SF (424 Haight). The club that brought you Drunk and Horny is here to get you good and loaded before you hit the Castro. 8-10 pm; free.

Pink Saturday
at Market and Castro. It's not an official event, but it's one of the year's best parties. The crowds start to converge in the Castro around 7 pm; expect street dancing until 2 am.

Sundance Saloon Country-Western Pride Dance
at Hotel Whitcomb (1231 Market). Because nothing says "hotel ballroom" like a country-Western Pride dance. A benefit for the Positive Resource Center. 8 pm-midnight; $10.

Mango Dyke March After-Party & NectArena Women's Stage Kick-Off Party
at El Rio (3158 Mission). El Rio hosts the ultimate follow-up to the Dyke March, sponsored by Kiss My Black Ass Productions. 9 pm-2 am; $10.

SUNDAY 6/29

Pride Communion Service along the parade route (Market Street between Beale and Hyde). Atone for your Pink Saturday sins with an interdenominational Eucharist at 9:30 am. Free.

SF Pride Parade (Market Street between Beale and Hyde). The parade itself is always a little too long, but the spectators provide some of the year's best people-watching. 10:30 am; free.

Pride Celebration at Civic Center. If you don't get your fill on Saturday afternoon, Sunday offers another seven hours of music, food, and countless opportunities to show up on complete strangers' disreputable MySpace pages. Noon-7 pm.

Juanita More!'s Gay Pride '08 at Bambuddha Lounge (601 Eddy). Celebrate Pride in the 'Loin with Juanita More. Proceeds benefit the New Leaf Outreach to Elders Program. 3 pm; $25-$30.

Big Top: A Gay Pride Sunday Homo Disco-Circus at The Transfer (198 Church). The Transfer's popular Sunday-evening party whips it all out for a special Pride spectacular. 6 pm-2 am; $5 before 9 pm.

Sundance Saloon's After-Pride Country-Western Dance at Hotel Whitcomb (1231 Market). Don't be intimidated if you don't know how to two-step: beginning lessons run from 6-7:30 pm, with the dance continuing until 11 pm. $5.

FRESH at Ruby Skye (420 Mason). If the phrase "Pride T-Dance" gets you excited, then this party's all yours. $20 before 6:30, $25 after.

Groove Theory After-Pride Party for Women at Milk Bar (1840 Haight). Like FRESH, but for the ladies (and at half the price). 7 pm-midnight; $10.

Escandalo at DNA Lounge (375 11th St.) The official Latin Stage after-party. 8 pm-3 am. Free before 11 pm; $5-$8 after.

The Return of Charo… And Her Las Vegas Show at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness). Not only is Charo a celebrity grand marshal at this year's Pride parade, but she also holds the record for the most appearances on The Love Boat. 8 pm; $40-$100. Call the box office at 415-392-4400.
