Dude, this weekend is gay: 7/4-7/6
POSTED July 4, 10:57 AM

Huzzah! Time to break out your Lee Greenwood records—it's that special weekend when we celebrate our country's waning legacy by drinking even more beer than usual!

FRIDAY
T*ts at The Transfer (198 Church). A very special event in honor of both women's and men's chestal areas. Friday 7/4 at 10 pm; $4.

UPDATE: Just caught wind of a 4th of July party called "G.I." at Truck. If I weren't stuck up in Spokane for the weekend, I'd totally be there. Friday 7/4 at 9 pm.

SATURDAY
Joystick at The Cinch (1723 Polk). A twice-monthly night of '80s music and video games at the venerable ol' gay haunt. With DJ Nicolio Mytoe. Saturday 7/5 at 9 pm.

SUNDAY
Cabaret Showcase Showdown at Martuni's (4 Valencia). One of the best places in town to spend a Sunday evening contemplating a series of Sidecars. Sunday 7/6 at 7 pm; $5.

Pride haiku
POSTED June 27, 7:08 PM
Briefly... Just off a phone call with my friend Andy, who complained that (contrary to those who think that Pride gets more and more outrageous every year) the parade used to be far raunchier in the '80s. His summary of the dominant mantra of ... Read More

Too proud?: A debate on Gay Pride
POSTED June 25, 11:01 AM
So it seems that my seemingly innocuous Pride week calendar stoked a bit of a debate over at a blog called Bookworm Room. (This is a long post, but I think you'll find the back-and-forth worthwhile.) From Bookworm's post:I’m quite libertarian... Read More
