Whether you are a guy who is married or single, young or old, personal hygiene and looking your best should be important to you. Merely a play on words from the term landscaping…”manscaping” refers to male shaving and grooming of the hair on the face, chest, back, and namely around the genital area.
Of course, a nice haircut as well as proper grooming of facial hair is a great way to maintain a guy’s appearance in the public eye, but in addition, all men should also trim unsightly hair of the nose and ears. But don't just stop there!
Taking the time to trim or shave excess body hair is something not only practiced by professional athletes like swimmers or wrestlers. Once thought of as unmanly, the overall maintenance of body hair has become a common aspect of hygiene for many men from all walks of life. On a personal level, the trimming of unsightly or overgrown body hair can not only make you feel clean and sexy, but most ladies actually prefer it.
In a recent gathering of friends the topic of manscaping was brought up and all of the females in the group were adamantly in support of guys who keep themselves nicely groomed from top to bottom. The ladies all agreed that it is far more pleasant to get close and personal with a guy who is well trimmed all over.
Some methods of hair removal in these areas include shaving with razors or trimmers, waxing and recent new products like men’s depilatory (hair removal) creams. However, a more permanent method offered by many full-service salons is electrolysis or laser hair removal. Sure, the permanent methods are more costly but it is a one time deal and the hair is gone. Besides, unless you are a contortionist, you probably need the help of your lady to do the job now.
There are many men who have excessive amounts of chest or back hair. Although some women like a guy with a little shag carpeting on the chest, the current trend among younger men is to keep it shaved. However, as far as back hair goes, pretty much everyone agrees that sporting the sweater look is just not appealing at the pool or beach.
Male underarm hair is another area that needs attention from time to time. Excess hair in this area traps perspiration which promotes the growth of odor causing bacteria. It isn’t necessary to shave as close as the ladies do but keeping these areas trimmed is just a good idea for any guy.
Finally, hair trimming or hair removal around the genitals and buttocks is something that makes a lot of guys squeamish. But why? Most guys don’t want their lady sporting an overgrown garden in her nether region, right? The simple truth is that women like a guy who is nicely groomed in his private areas as well. In fact, many men report that their partner became far more willing to perform oral sex once they started to shave their scrotum and area around the penis. In addition to feeling more sensual, keeping well groomed around the genitals and posterior also promotes freshness in these areas too. Guys should also keep in mind that trimming the undergrowth in the forest will make their single tree appear much taller. (Helpful suggestion for guys: to avoid becomming itchy, just trim hair short in the pubic area rather than shave it bare.)
In recent years many companies like Wahl, Gillette & Remington have developed trimmers and shavers especially for the maintenance of body hair. These trimmers are much safer than using a razor around men’s private areas and can ease the fears of lopping something off. I particularly enjoyed visiting Gillette’s official website where they show that they have a sense of humor on the subject of body hair removal. Gillette also provides many “how to” tutorials and helpful suggestions on body hair grooming.
In closing, once you start shaving your body hair it will likely start growing more rapidly requiring you to continue maintenance in these areas more frequently. However, to do so will certainly be appreciated by your special lady and she will likely thank you in a special way.
